Top Secret: Zac Posen’s Sensational Pre-Fall Separates
When it comes to red-carpet glamour, Zac Posen reigns supreme, designing gowns coveted by critics, celebrities and my clients! And now, in addition to saying yes to the dress, Zac expands his Pre-Fall collection to include sensational separates made to mix and match.
I was lucky enough to spend the day in Zac’s studio, styling looks for both day and night, taking into account my styling philosophy: Less is more—just buy the best. The key is quality, not quantity, combining fewer pieces to make more outfits. See how Zac’s separates can be styled in endless ways.
White is Always Right. We all know that what white works well if worn head to toe, but mixing it up shows you’re in the know. Keep it simple for city streets or a Southampton stroll. Top it off with a tweed jacket for the boardroom or brunch. Or keep it classic with a jacket draped like a cape for a sophisticated, timeless shape.
Wool Crepe Pants in Ivory, $1,900. Quilting Tank in Ivory,$890. Stretch Tweed Jacket, $2,490. Wool Crepe Blazer in Ivory, $2,990.
Fashion Rules Are Passé, Wear It Your Way. You no longer need to stick to a matching skirt suit—break up sets and leave stuffy styling behind. Take as an example Zac’s solid skirt and pantsuit options, which he also offers in tweed. Separate the suits so you’ll have a look for everything from a business day to casual cocktails to a gallery fête.
Stretch Tweed Skirt, $990. Bouquet Taffeta Blouse in Black, $1,190 Stretch Tweed Blazer, $2,350. Stretch Faille Skirt in Black, $990. Stretch Faille Blazer in Black, $2,590. Stretch Tweed Pants, $890. Taffeta Blouse in Black, $1,990. Taffeta Top in Black, $1,190.
And don’t forget, a closet isn’t complete without a classic black or white blouse. Wear it solo with pants or a skirt, layered with a blazer or even tucked into jeans. From morning to night, this sharp, chic look is always right.
Taffeta Top in Chalk, $1,190.
A Printed Dress Goes A Long Way. Pop on a fur shrug for a polished look, or add a cape when it’s time to play.
Diamond Print Silk Chiffon Dress in Floral, $2,290. Mink Shrug in Charcoal, $4,250. Double-Face Wool Cape in Truffle, $2,490.
Glamorous Gowns, Goodbye! The statement taffeta top and silk tuxedo pants take over black-tie and Friday-night fun. Or kick back and add a blazer for casual cool.
Stretch Faille Pant in Black, $1,290. Taffeta Top in Chalk, $1,190.Wool Crepe Jacket in Black $1,850.
Breaking Up Beautiful Brocade works for all hours of the day. The scoop neck blouse screams smart and sexy while the turtleneck version is prim and proper. And to transform it from work to play, just add a black blazer. It works both ways.
Brocade Jacquard Skirt in White/Gold, $1,590. Silk Floral Top in Moss, $1,190.Stretch Faille Blazer in Black, $2,590. Chiffon Turtleneck in Moss, $1,490.
